Part of skiing is conquering your fear in an effort to learn what is really possible. Fear usually limits us in seeing things clearly. Fear usually just gets in the way of us being happy.

With that being said, it was time to send it-

It is daybreak in Idaho. Very calm, very serene.

I am about to test the theory that skiing is like riding a bike. After a 32 year absence, I am a touch nervous.

I think, at age 4, you might have been a better skier than I was at 15. I’m not sure why it is that I have been yearning at age 47 to do so many things I had put away so long ago.

This much I know. When I hit the deck for the first time, it will not hurt as much as 70 lbs ago. I will not slide as far. I will have no “safety straps” or “wet look” coat to facilitate and extend the beating. I am peering at the bright side of this.

So while I might not be ready to tackle Silverton, you know Baldy is a bunny hill.

Great site, great pics. Come visit me in the hospital, my brother…

sweet huck mang. Your quote is so true about fear. It is what prevents me from progressing like I would like. Keep sending it.

Waradmiral99- I can’t express in words how happy it makes me to think you’re getting back in to the sport. Skiing provides happiness accompanied with physical fitness. Throw some conquering of fear in there for good measure, and you’ve got a pretty rewarding and healthy lifestyle. Pain is the weakness leaving your body, it’s a good thing.
A very wise person told me at a very critical time in my life-”that which does not kill you, makes you stronger”….I held onto that….thank you.

Montanaskier- Don’t let fear keep you from living. Fear only gets in the way. KILL IT, amigo!
