First off, my apologies for not updating this page in so long. First off, this has been the strangest Winter I can remember. The snow totals around not only Central/Northern Colorado, but most other areas in the Western United States are ridiculously below their normal snow totals for the year. That has started to change this past week, but it is damn near February already!!
Most of my favorite backcountry areas aren’t deep enough to safely ride, and others have such high avalanche danger right now it would be suicide to venture into them. Hell, this time of year, I usually have about 30 or so powder days under my belt, and roughly 20 or so snowmobile days. This year you ask? About 3 powder days, and I’ve had my snowmobile out just once.
The 3 powder days have been down in Southwestern Colorado on two separate trips. The last, just a few days ago when they finally received a storm totaling nearly 5 feet! Finally!
It was really nice to ski powder again!
I headed down to Wolf Creek with some friends, including Joe who flew in from Idaho for the week. (see his blog link on this page)
We didn’t get many pics…it was honestly snowing way too hard…..snow on the lense etc etc.
Joe did manage to get this one of me doing one of my first drops of the year.

The next day, we were waiting for the lift to open and were getting antsy. My friend Brennan and I discussed getting a shot of me doing a front flip just below the chair. Well, long story short, I misjudged my speed, and landed on the road below.

Knocked the wind out of me terribly bad after slamming on my back…..I also slammed my head really hard, but fortunately I was wearing a helmet. I did end up going to the emergency room, luckily x-ray and mri found nothing broken. I feel almost 100% a few days later……all of those days in the gym this Summer paid off.
